This high-rise condo experienced water infiltration into its indoor/outdoor parking garage on every level. The garage had an older technology waterproofing and asphalt coating that was beyond its useful lifespan. This water infiltration, along with the deicing salts that it carried, began to corrode the reinforcing steel, and cause significant structural issues.
- The garage was completely closed, and the old asphalt & waterproofing system was removed
- The structural slab was assessed, and it was determined that multiple levels of the garage required full slab replacement
- Specialty shoring and lateral bracing was designed and installed to support the high rise structure above while these slab sections were replaced
- Upon completion a new urethane, traffic-bearing membrane system was installed to the restored structure
